A Travellerspoint blog

Ho Chi Minh City

sunny 36 °C

This is just a quick blog to say Jim and I have arrived in Vietnam unscathed!! The traffic is aboslutely insane, there are about 10 lanes going in both directions and no real traffic lights so it's a free for all bolt to cross the road where you are hassled (ie.lygon street but so much worse) every 30 secs to go for a ride on a motorbike, buy a lottery ticket, go for a ride on a morbike or my favourite buy a 10 stack of cling wrapped books (ranging from lonely planet to hilary clinton's biography, most likely just covers with blank pages), or GO FOR A RIDE ON A MOTORBIKE!!

We also went for a tour to the Cu Chi Tunnels, where Jim fired an AK-47 and we went down actual viet cong tunnels on our hands and knees, mininal light, with a dead scorpion carcass, spiders (yes it was just dark enough for me not to flip out, and the fact there was no way to go but ahead!), a jumping gecko and finally venturing out dripping with sweat.

The camera battery died today, hence no pics posted as yet, but will hopefully write less and post more in future.

Hope all is well back in Aus!
